Our Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Eugene Voss accepted the call to become the pastor of the First Reformed Church of Lincoln Park in 2009. A Chicago native, he graduated from Trinity Christian College in 1976 with degrees in Theology and Sociology. During college, he served as a youth pastor at Calvary Reformed Church of Orland Park, Illinois. Rev. Voss also served two years in the United States Marine Corps at Parris Island, South Carolina.

Rev. Voss married Ruthann Rusthoven on October 5, 1973. After college, they moved to Holland, Michigan where he attended Western Theological Seminary. At the same time Rev. Voss served in several churches; Beverly Reformed of Wyoming, Michigan, Ebenezer Reformed of Holland Michigan and Thorn Creek Reformed Church of South Holland, Illinois.

After graduating from Seminary in 1979, Rev. Voss and his family returned to South Holland where he spent two years as the associate pastor of Thorn Creek Reformed Church. He then served two years as pastor of Newkirk Reformed Church in Hospers, Iowa, and eight years as senior pastor of Beverly Reformed Church of Wyoming, Michigan. Beginning in1994, Rev. Voss gave more than eight years of service as senior pastor of Zion Reformed Church, Grandville, Michigan.

In 2001, he received his Doctorate of Ministry at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. A year and a half later, the Voss family moved East. Rev. Voss became the pastor of the Reformed Church of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. It was during his tenure at Willow Grove that he received his Conflict Mediation license at the Bryn Mawr Graduate School for Social Studies and Research.

Rev. Voss (Pastor Gene) and Ruthann have three children: Timothy Paul, and Matthew John who reside in Michigan as well as a daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) Ann Montejo who lives in Lincoln Park, NJ. They are blessed with three grandchildren.
